After working through weekend for some database delivery, our project lead let us go on a one day off. Checked the weather, it’s good, and found a nice place in Jesamine’s facebook photo. So KS, me and ping hit the road to Castello di Amorosa at Napa.

It’s a castle built in 1993… not very old but the bricks are all 100 year old bricks from Italy. Italian architects were hired to teach the local constructor to build tha castle.

Wait, did I mention it’s a winery? Yupe, it’s a winery, the tour costs $25 per person and that includes wine tasting. After some glasses, I bought a bottle of Gewurztraminer. It’s white, fruity but not too much like dessert wine. And after this trip, together with the earlier experience at Robert Mondavi wine tasting, I think I like white more than red. OK, i’m not any expert, I just like what my tongue tells me it’s nicer.

Sitting, drinking coffee, staring at the laptop screen during office hour… it’s less than 10 weeks from project tape in now, why the hell I’m so free?

No, I’m not free at all, this is by far the worst schedule/workload i have. Next week, there’s a major milestone for my team. If we hit that, anything happen next that cause the schedule slip will not be our fault. haha… so kiasu come out with CC plan. It’s not we want to CC, it’s a fact that we need time to work, we cannot always absorb changes. We are not ironmen nor magician. We need time to complete the works too.

A lot of wedding dinner to attend end of this year. Starting from October. Why so many ppl getting married in Q4? Financially, it’s not good, because after you get married, in a few month you will have to start distributing ang pao during Chinese New Year. Think about it, that couple of hundreds/thousands. Why not get married after Chinese New Year, you earn another round of angpao, and you have almost 1 year to save money for next year angpao.

Heard about skim board recently, sound interesting and good that it can be done in Penang. Gotta try that soon. Ops… before that, better flatten my tummy. Not a nice scene to look at when that 6 brothers are united.

Lastly, dear my friends. Please don’t post island hopping/snorkeling/scuba diving photos at facebook/friendster. I miss diving so much…

I’m never a big fan of Star Wars, although I watched all 6 episodes of it. (I watched the last 3 episodes a long long time ago and forgot most of the story)

Saw this book when it first launched at major book stores. Read it’s cover and the story seem to be quite interesting. I didn’t buy it that time and soon it proved to be a big mistake. I couldn’t find it at any of the book stores in Penang. Finally, managed to get it from Kinokuniya at KLCC.

Story sets between the episode 3 when the emperor succeeded to have the galaxy under his control, along with his right hand man Darth Vader.

The book was nicely written. Easy to read and story is intense most of the time.

After this, I have another book which I bought at Kinokuniya too. The Last Days of Krypton. The story is about superman’s father. Hopefully it’s a nice one.

When a door is closed upon us, there is another one opened. But almost everytime we are so obsessed with trying to reopen the closed door and we miss out the one which is just opened.

This blog is so covered by dust, it’s time to write something.

Let’s share something that I’ve been observing for sometimes: fight between couples.

Case 1

They are fighting, she is screaming at him. She wanted an explaination but he thinks she’s being unreasonable. He doesn’t wanna talk, grab his keys and goes out of the house. She gets more angry, she starts to throw things around in the house. Two hours later, he is back. House is a mess. He is not explaining, clean up the house and pretend nothing happen. He knows eventually they will talk again and everything is going to be alright.

Case 2

It all started with casual talk. She asked about his outing with friends at a pub on Saturday night. He said nothing special, just cathing up with old friends. She said nothing special? No hot chicks around? He said no, didn’t notice any. She was unconvinced and ask again. He is annoyed and answered with a harder tone. She asked him why he answered in that angry tone. He said no, he just wanted to make his point clear with a serious tone. It ended with a fight and a few days of cold war.

Case 3

After dinner, he was sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper. She was sitting at the side with a sad face. 30 minutes passed and he finally noticed that. He asked her what was going on, she said he’s changed, he used to be caring he used to be loving. He used to spent a lot of time with her and he would noticed that she’s unhappy much earlier last time. He denied, he said nothing has changed, he still love her as he always does. He told her not to think too much, there’s no problem at all between them. She has nothing else to say to him. She went to sleep with the tears in her heart hoping that tomorrow the tears will evaporate with the morning sun.

Things will not be okay by itself. Even it seem to be okay after a few days, the crack will always be there. After each time the crack gets bigger until a day it cannot be mended.

If the first he could just stay in and talk to her, try to resolve the problem rather than just avoid it and let it fade, even it means they could ended up screaming at each other. If the second he could just take a step back, gives her a hug and says she’s he only one he sees. If the last he could just take a minute to think what makes her thinks that he has changed, take a minute to think if he has really changed.

I was once told that when there is a fight, there’s no single party who’s right or wrong. Both share the rights and wrongs. A little bit of mindset change changes a lot of outcomes.

Aftermath

I’m not relationship guru. I am like everyone else in the world. I fell, I banged on the wall, like everyone else does. And lastly, I am not in a fight with my gf, I don’t think I will have that kind of mood to write such a long entry if I’m in a fight. I’m so in love with her right now

Under the paint and the happy face. The face that is always happy. Bringing happiness to everyone by making fun of themselves. They seem to have no trouble, they seem to be able to get along with anyone.

But under the paint, who can really see the true face? Who can really understand that like everyone else on the planet, clowns have to work to feed the empty stomach in his family. Clowns have to worry about the economy, clowns have to think about how to make people laugh.

There is a sad face under the happiest paint of a clown.

Watched Knowing finally… actually didn’t mean to watch it but FNF4 time wasn’t good to me and since I haven’t watch Knowing yet, so just grab tickets and watch it.

Heard a lot of ppl commenting about this film, most of them said the ending is so-so but the rest are good. Well, I don’t know much about the beginning because I was busy eating McD Nuggets + pop corns + cokes… hehe…

The ending of the movie? I’m not going to spoil the rest who still want to watch it but I think the ending was cool. I like the story where you don’t know what comes next and you never have time to prepare for it. Not like the other movies when they can all gear up and like they know when the next bullet is going to come from and they do The Matrix style evasion.

Life we live, we don’t know what happen next. I know about this just that I often forget. We do not really care what if something bad happen next minute and all that we work so hard today will gone. This movie is like a reminder, to treasure what I have now and to cherish the wonderful people around me.

I still like EE die in the end of the movie.

It’s been a while the sky is so clear, full moon accompanied by countless stars. It feels like the sky and the earth are so close together and we are just sandwiched in between.

Not long ago, this kind of clear sky was so easy to see. As long as it’s not a cloudy day nor rainy day. I could see a sky full of stars from the window behind my house just at the foot of BM hill. Looking at the moon climbing up from the hill, feeling the cool air and listening to the sound that crickets made. It is just 20 years ago when these could be seen, could be listened, could be felt so easily.

Today without the sound of crickets, the world is not quiet. It’s full of noises, all the man made noises. The concrete jungle took away the green. I used to see coconut trees when I walk out of my house but now I need to drive out of the city to see one. It was too cold at night and I had to switch off the fan, now most people couldn’t sleep without an air conditioner.

We take a lot but we give back too little. Very soon we will never have a night like this. Help the Earth to help you, start from the Earth hour on 28th March 2009.

I just recently finished reading the book. This is the third JRR Tolkien’s book that I read. To me this is the easiest reading of them all(compared to LOTR and The Silmarillion).

But my heart is heavy after reading the book. For it’s not a happy ending. The book is about the tragic life of Túrin son of Húrin. Strong, tall and proud he is but he lives under the curse of the darklord Morgoth.

For those who are interested to read this, I think you will need to read the Silmarillion, to get to know the background of the story and how the world is formed.

Apart from this book, recently I read pretty a lot of books but they are all in chinese. 4 in total from December until now. I think I’m breaking my own record.
